For our final general meeting of the year, we recapped our third-place three-peat at PSWC 2016, announced the 2016-17 Executive Board, and presented the annual USC ASCE Awards. We finished with an opportunity for everyone to sign the seniors’ hard hats, a USC CEE department tradition. It was a great end to the year with food, fun, and friendship!

2015-16 First General Meeting
For new students and prospective members, welcome; for returning members, welcome back! We’re excited to announce that our first general meeting for 2015-16 has been set:
- Date: Thursday, September 3, 2015
- Time: 6:30pm
- Location: KAP 146
This first meeting will be an opportunity to learn about our plans for the semester and the year, from a new professional event series and a new community service team to PSWC 2016 and our four major design teams. For new prospective members, this is an opportunity to meet other members and learn more about our organization. We have tons of exciting things planned for this year and we’d love to have your help.
As always, we’ll have free food (type TBA), along with fun and friendship. We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
2nd General Meeting & LA YMF Student Roundup
We held our second general meeting of the semester and hosted the ASCE Younger Members Forum Student Roundup, with several other universities in attendance.

We had a great time at the YMF Student Roundup as well! We hosted many other schools from the region, and got a chance to meet some young professionals currently working in the civil field.

First General Meeting Summary
Thanks to everyone who joined us at our first meeting!
We had a great turnout, with 65+ students in attendance. I know several people wanted to attend but couldn’t, so you can use this post to catch up on what you missed. There are some useful links for those who were there too.
At the meeting we said that membership forms would be available on our website very soon, you can now find them through the membership page. You should also subscribe to our calendars.

Questions
After the main portion of the meeting, where we explained what ASCE and USC ASCE are, as well as talking about all of the different things we do, we had a brief activity for those who could stay. The assignment: create the tallest possible tower out of six sheets of (re-used!) paper and nothing else (no tape, glue, paperclips, etc.). Oh, and they had to be wind-resistant too. We had some pretty creative results!
