Level 5: Transforming Equilateral Triangle
Let's try something different. We'll start with an equilateral triangle (ABC); you can change its size and position by dragging points A and B. Then, triangle DEF is defined by points located proportionally along each side of ABC. Point D is proportional from C, F from A, and B from C, all in terms of functions of t. What are these functions of t (hint: one is simply t)? Two of the functions include the constant a, which must be greater than or equal to 2; a pre-defined constant is also involved in one of the functions. Notice how the values of both a and t transform triangle DEF from the original triangle ABC.
