McClintock Avenue

USC spent about 15 months transforming a fully-vehicle-oriented, narrow-sidewalked street into this pedestrian and bike-friendly, USC Athletics-branded primary campus thoroughfare. This follows ten years of significant new development along this stretch of the street, with the construction of Loker Track Stadium, the McKay Center, the Cinema Complex’s Interactive Media Building, and most recently, the Uytengsu Aquatics Center. This will likely continue south in the coming years with the construction of the Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience. The campus entrance at the north end now features enormous sidewalks, and the entire road features brick banding, pedestrian-scale lighting, and uniform street trees. USC Village will eventually center on McClintock Avenue to the north of Jefferson Boulevard, so transforming the campus side of the street before the completion of phase one is a good strategic step in unifying the expanded campus. At the north, Jefferson Boulevard will begin a similar transformation in the next few months, with the USC Village Phase 1 side of McClintock receiving similar treatment all the way to 30th street.

  1. Magonlia Grandiflora “DD Blanchard”. These line the rebuilt McClintock Ave. as well as Trousdale Parkway and Childs Way.
