Washington County is in the process of upgrading its public buildings to improve their seismic performance. These upgrade projects target an enhanced performance objective, seeking to enable the buildings to remain functional following a large earthquake.
The Public Services Building is the first building project underway and will be the second to be completed, following the Law Enforcement Center. The 30-year-old building is being upgraded with new exterior concrete shear walls at each corner, along with new landscaping to complement the newly-daylight basement.
This view is taken from the south wing, looking north to the completed north wing seismic upgrade and the new landscaping at the main entry. Designed by SERA Architects with KPFF, construction will be completed in 2019.
