The Twisted Savonius Wind Turbine Model in Operation at 30rpm
Geometry of the Twisted Savonius Wind Turbine

About the Project

The Twisted Savonius Geometry Modeling Project was completed by Nick Halsey between July 2010 and March 2011, and builds off of his previous research with wind turbines. The project aims to develop the Twisted Savonius wind turbine and reduce its cost, by mathematically evaluating its ideal geometry. The following people/organizations have assisted with the project:

This work was formerly located on Saltire Software’s website, but now rests on the Cello Expressions domain and is occasionally updated to remain accessible as web technology evolves. The last content updates were in 2013 when interactive geometry apps were incorporated following the author’s development of Euclid’s Muse.
