USC Village Live Webcam

I’m working at the USC Village jobsite this summer as an intern for Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Co. This is a huge project – 15 acre site, 6 buildings, over 1 million square feet – and USC has set up the usual webcams to monitor the construction progress. Unfortunately, theirs uses painfully outdated software that won’t even work in IE in compatibility mode unless you get really lucky. So I set up a page that pulls in the latest image from the camera and displays it full-screen, updating the image every second or as your connection allows so that you can see the progress.

  1. Thanks much for the Village webcam! I can’t get up to L.A. very often to see the progress. Your web cam is just like being there! Any chance you will put up a couple more web cams so we can observe the construction from a couple different vantage points? Thanks again for the site.

    • No problem! I don’t actually maintain the webcam, this is just a viewing layer to bypass the horrible software that USC uses. They do have another one set up, on top of WPH, but the access credentials are messed up, so there’s no way to stream its feed like this one does.

I have been posting pictures from the jobsite about weekly for some time now, though, so those may also be of interest (I currently have a big backlog to post): https://celloexpressions.com/photography/tag/usc-village/

      • Thanks! A student at the USC Law School in the late 80’s, I lived on Hoover. What an improvement the Village is over that deteriorated shopping center.
