OLD HUNDREDTH is a ubiquitous hymn tune used widely since its 1561 publication in the Genevan Psalter. This arrangement for cello ensemble includes several traditional harmonizations and rhythmic settings. The inner verses alter the melody slightly in duet pairings with arpeggios. The arpeggios lead into a syncopated form of the melody in 7/8 time, which continues back to a four-part harmony with contemporary adjustments. Finally, the initial four-part harmony is repeated in 2/4.
The four parts can be doubled as needed for various ensemble sizes. Consider optionally playing bars 43-75 in duets.
