This arrangement of O Christmas Tree begins with a building fanfare statement before introducing an arpeggiated countermelody in the second verse. The arpeggiated accompaniment builds into an ornamental triplet figure for the third verse, which gradually softens while densifying back into the original fanfare statement.

The three parts are all read from a two-page score. If doubling parts, it is most important to keep an equal number of players on the cello 2 and cello 3 parts; the cello 1 part may accordingly have an extra or lesser cellist depending on the size of the ensemble.
