A short (2 minute) cello duet. Reflective and ephemeral, this piece places a lot of emphasis on texture and leverages the full range of the cello. Dynamics and articulations are left to the interpretation of the performers. Do not try doubling any parts – this will only work well with two cellists.
The form is a simple binary (AB), with a high harmonic line and an mid-upper-range counter line in the A section and a faster slurred arpeggiated line contrasting with a plucked line in the B section. The harmonics are the most difficult part of the piece, but don’t necessarily require an advanced cellist. Most of both parts are best played in third position.
