EASTER HYMN is closely associated with the Easter text Christ The Lord is Risen Today. Trumpet joins the cello ensemble to emphasize the festive style in this arrangement.
The first verse presents the trumpet melody over a thick procession of arpeggiated chords in all four cello parts. Next, cello 1 plays the melody as the other cellists layer a lighter rhythmic accompaniment. The third verse breaks the melody into eighth note arpeggios in the trumpet and cello. Four-part harmony emerges in the upper register of the cellos, later supported by trumpet as the melody climbs. The final verse features trumpet melody over a dense lower-octave of the four-part cello harmony.
