HOLY MANNA is an early American hymn tune first published in Columbian Harmony (1825). This arrangement for cello quartet intersperses the hymn form with improvisational, syncopated variations. Accompaniments build from strummed chords to driving pizzicato before a contrapuntal countermelody emerges. A verse in parallel fourths re-established the key as C major, repeated in canon. The closing verses lean into the syncopated variations bringing the four parts together.
