LASST UNS ERFREUEN is a popular hymn tune first published in Geistliche Kirchengesang Cologne in 1623. This arrangement is based on the widely distributed Ralph Vaughan Williams setting in the 1906 English Hymnal, which is presented in a four-part reduction in the opening and closing verses. The inner verses lighten to two and three part settings derived from the shaping of the tune and running harmony parts. Freely double parts as available musicians allow.
