This arrangement of The Twelve Days of Christmas works best with ensembles of 4-12 cellists. The first six verses each feature unique music with variations on bowed accompaniments and placing the melody in different octaves. Verses seven through eleven are arranged into a loop with progressive additional bars. Larger groups can optionally alternate verses across players. The eleventh verse sets up the introduction to verse twelve in the final ending with a unison percussive rhythm (for twelve drummers drumming). The final verse continues this pattern with optional percussive/tapped accompaniments to the lower parts.
