Adapted from the version that closes Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite, this piece is recognizable for its incorporation of two melodies – the Dargason dance that runs throughout, and Greensleeves, which comes in at various points in the cello two part. Written articulations and dynamic contrast are critical when performing this arrangement given the repetitive nature of the music and the limitations in available timbres within a homogeneous cello ensemble.
