Jupiter, The Bringer of Jollity is the best-known movement of Gustav Holst’s orchestral suite The Planets. This arrangement features nearly the entire movement adapted directly from the original score to six-part cello choir. This should be played with at least two cellists per part for best results. The central slow section is most recognizable; Holst adapted it into the hymn tune Thaxted, and a standalone arrangement of that tune for cello choir is also available in this library.
Even with the support of a large ensemble, this is a long and difficult work. total duration is just ender 8 minutes. Each part is between 4-5 pages long, with multi-measure rests aligned to page turns wherever feasible.
